BASIC PERSONAL PREPAREDNESS OFFERED BY BERKELEY FIRE DEPARTMENT
Afternoon Class Added to Meet Demand
Berkeley, California (Friday, October 21, 2005) - Responding to popular demand, the Berkeley Fire Department will offer an afternoon session of its Basic Personal Preparedness Workshop in addition to the same workshop offered earlier in the day.. This session takes place on Saturday, November 5 from 1:30-3:30 at the West Berkeley Senior Center, 1900 6th Street near Hearst Avenue. The same class will also be offered that morning from 10:00-12:00 at the West Berkeley Senior Center. On December 3, 10:00-12:00, Basic Personal Preparedness will be offered at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Street.
The class covers how to take care of yourself, your family and your home. It discusses in detail the five critical steps you can take to prepare for an earthquake (make a plan, arrange for a long distance phone contact, prepare an emergency supplies kit, prepare your home, and know your neighbors).
