LORIN DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION HOSTS COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP
Volunteers Wanted for South Berkeley Beautification Day
Berkeley, California (Friday, December 09, 2005) - Take a troubled intersection, add a sprinkling of wildflower and a swath of foliage, a dash of spring - flowering bulbs, a generous helping of soil, and bunches of volunteers. Blend with crisp winter air, a heap of community spirit, and a mass of neighborhood pride. The result – a community project to add zest and natural beauty to South Berkeley.
Armed with gardening tools, shovels, rakes, brooms and garbage bags, Lorin District neighbors and volunteers will don work gloves on Saturday, December 17, to beautify and clean a portion of their neighborhood. In partnership with the City of Berkeley, the Lorin District Neighborhood Association (LDNA) has planned this event (rain or shine) to commence at the South Berkeley Community Church, located at the intersection of Fairview and Ellis Streets. Volunteer check-in will begin at 9 am, followed by the clean-up and planting from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm. Refreshments provided by Sweet Adeline Bakery. For Information Contact Karen Williams or Robin Wright, 510/287-5874.
