String of Robberies Committed in North and Southeast Berkeley
Berkeley, California (Wednesday, December 21, 2005) - Berkeley Investigators continue to investigate a series of street robberies within the City. These incidents occurred between December 16 and 19. During this four-day period, there were eight robberies appearing to have all been committed by the same suspect.
The suspect is described as a black male, between 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 5 inches tall, 230 pounds, with a large build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a black baseball cap, which is sometimes worn backwards.
The suspect primarily targets women and has struck only in the North and Southeast portions of the City thus far. Although there's been no weapon seen during the robberies, the suspect has simulated a gun in some cases. The suspect may be the same person responsible for similar robberies in Oakland.
