MARCH CLASSES IN DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
Are You and Your Family Prepared for the Next Disaster?
Berkeley, California (Monday, January 09, 2006) - Are you and your family prepared to survive the next disaster? Berkeley’s Office of Emergency Services offers several free classes to anyone who lives or works in Berkeley:
Basic Personal Preparedness – March 4, 10:00-12:00 and then again from 1:30-3:30, 1953 Hopkins Street (in the Fellowship Hall of the Epworth United Methodist Church). Learn the five critical steps you can take now to prepare (make a plan, arrange for a long distance phone contact, prepare an emergency supplies kit, prepare your home, and know your neighbors/co-workers).
Light Search and Rescue – Saturday, March 11, 9:00-1:00, 997 Cedar Street. Learn how to identify signs of structural damage, search for victims, apply basic rescue techniques, and remove heavy objects from trapped victims.
Disaster First Aid – Saturday, March 25, 9:00-12:00, 997 Cedar Street. Learn how to apply basic first aid techniques, give initial care to the seriously injured, and stabilize victims until other services are available.
