CITY OF BERKELEY INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAM ANNOUNCES ANTI-DRINKING AND DRIVING CAMPAIGN
Safe and Sober Driving Video Production
Berkeley, California (Monday, April 03, 2006) - The City of Berkeley Injury Prevention Program and the Berkeley High School Video Production Class announce today an anti-drinking and driving campaign just in time for Prom night. This issue has been a huge concern for the Berkeley High School Health Center’s Injury Prevention Program who has been working closely with community partners to reduce substance use and abuse in the teen population.
The "Safe and Sober Driving Video" will be presented on Thursday, April 6th – at 2:00 p.m. at the Florence Schwimley Little Theater (Allston Way & Berkeley High School Campus). The video will feature seven public service announcements produced by students in the CAS Video Production Class in an effort to educate their peers on the effects and hazards of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The event will also include a presentation from guest speaker, Lisa Yakes, from Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) who will share her personal story with students on how her life has been impacted by a drunk driver.
Co-sponsors include the Berkeley High School Health Center, the California Office of Traffic Safety, and the City of Berkeley Injury Prevention Program.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
