2006 DIGITAL PRINTMAKING EXHIBITION
Addison Street Windows Gallery from August 1–31, 2006
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, August 01, 2006) - The City of Berkeley is pleased to announce the exhibit “2006 Digital Printmaking”, premiering the first public exhibition by The Berkeley City College Digital Art Club (BCCDAC) at the Addison Street Windows Gallery. The show runs from August 1 – 31, 2006. This exhibition is a showcase of large format digital prints, created by artists affiliated with the Berkeley City College Multimedia Department. The exhibition is wheelchair accessible and is on view 24 hours a day. A public sidewalk reception, sponsored by The Berkeley City College Digital Art Club, will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Addison Street Windows Gallery, 2018 Addison Street.
Digital art printmaking is a complicated, ever changing, experimental media and can take more than two years to master. The process involves cutting edge digital imagery, blending images into digital prints, and printing technology, influenced by a high level of professional and aesthetic critique. Starting from various sources including "organic" images, for example paintings and drawings, the images are transformed digitally and then printed on materials such as paper, canvas, or even metal. The students use software packages that may include 3-dimensional modeling, animation processing, photographic editing, and vector designs.
