NOMINATION PERIOD CLOSES FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 2006
Berkeley, California (Thursday, August 10, 2006) - The nomination period for candidates running for local offices in the City of Berkeley closes on Friday, August 11, 2006. Nomination paperwork must be filed with the City Clerk, 2180 Milvia Street, Berkeley, no later than 5:00 p.m. this Friday.
The nomination period will be extended through 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, for non-incumbent candidates running for the office of Rent Stabilization Board Commissioner due to the fact that one incumbent commissioner has reached the term limit.
The nomination period will be extended for non-incumbents running for other offices in the City of Berkeley only if an incumbent for that office fails to file nomination papers by the deadline of 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2006. Incumbents may not file after this deadline and non-incumbents may only file after this deadline if the incumbent fails to file.
A list of persons taking out and returning nomination papers is available on the City Clerk’s website at www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/elections or by calling the City Clerk Department at (510) 981-6900. Candidate statements, ballot measures and other general election information is also posted to this website as it becomes available.
