WOMAN BEATS MALE VICTIM WITH CANE
Arrest made by alert Patrol Officer

Berkeley, California (Tuesday, January 23, 2007) - On Saturday January 20, 2007 at about 7:30 PM, Berkeley Police responded to Essex St. / Adeline St. (near the BART Station) regarding a report of a woman beating a man with a walking cane. Responding Berkeley Officers located a 62-year old male lying on the ground, unconscious with extensive trauma to his head. Berkeley Fire transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition and on life support. 

Witnesses provided a good description of the woman suspect to Police. BPD Patrol Officers were able to locate the suspect a short distance away and make a quick arrest for this assault.

Investigators are continuing to locate and interview additional witnesses. on this case. Initial facts show that both the victim and suspect know each other and that a domestic dispute may have lead up to this incident.
