COMMUNITY INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN CONVERSATION ABOUT HEALTH
City of Berkeley Hosts Community Action Forum
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, September 11, 2007) - All Berkeley residents are invited to participate in a forum to discuss community-wide strategies for addressing persistent health inequities here in Berkeley.
"In order to enjoy our lives, our children and our grandchildren, we need our health," said Linda Rudolph, the City's public health officer. "By bringing together residents and experts, we hope to find some ways to improve the community's health and eliminate the inequities that exist."
Date: Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Location: St. Paul AME Church, 2024 Ashby Avenue (at Adeline).
Following a brief presentation of the 2007 Health Status Report, we will have community member testimony and small group discussions focused around particular topic areas of interest in Berkeley such as Housing, Education, Employment, Asthma, Obesity, Youth Issues, Violence and Environment.
Community and city representatives are invited to be present to participate in discussions and to staff an informational/ resource table at the event. Food and drink will be provided, and childcare and transportation are being coordinated by multiple stakeholders to ensure participation from important members of our community.
Co-sponsors include Bayer, Inc., Berkeley Public Library, South & West Berkeley Community Action Team, South & West Berkeley Health Forum, Lifelong Medical Care, Picante, Ecology Center/Farm Fresh Choice.
