CITY OF BERKELEY INVITES PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ACT IMPLEMENTATION PROGRESS REPORT
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, June 24, 2008) - The City of Berkeley Mental Health Division invites your comments on implementation of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) in Berkeley and Albany. In accordance with State requirements, the Draft Implementation Progress Report will be disseminated for a 30-day public review and comment period beginning Tuesday June 24th and continuing through Wednesday, July 23rd.
The Implementation Progress Report highlights early successes and challenges in implementing the Community Services and Supports component of the MHSA and discusses programs funded and operating during 2007. Upon completion of the review period, the Mental Health Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, July 24th. This public hearing will be held at 2640 Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 5:30 pm. For more detailed information on how to review and provide feedback on the Draft Implementation Progress Report, the public is invited to view Berkeley's MHSA website at http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/ContentDisplay.aspx?id=15648.
A copy of the Implementation Progress Report will also be available at the Berkeley Central Public Library at 2090 Kittredge Street. Following the public hearing, comments received throughout the month will be addressed and a final report submitted to the State Department of Mental Health.
