DONA SPRING SERVICES AND CELEBRATION ANNOUNCED
Service in the park and celebration at the North Berkeley Senior Center give everyone the chance to honor her life
Berkeley, California (Wednesday, August 06, 2008) - Friends and family, activists and residents will have the opportunity to gather and celebrate the life and work of Council Member Dona Spring at a memorial and celebration this Sunday afternoon.
WHAT: An outdoor service will allow a short program of speakers to honor the life of activist and Council Member Dona Spring.
WHERE: Civic Center Park (Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, between Center and Allston—the west end of the park)
WHEN: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
**NOTE: Seating at the memorial service is park-style, so please bring your blankets or folding stools and chairs to enjoy the speakers. Wheelchair users will be given priority for the paved areas in front.**
Celebration of Life
WHAT: Everyone is invited to come celebrate Councilmember Spring’s life by sharing food, music, and their memories and feelings about her. Guests are also invited to see a recent documentary about her life.
WHERE: North Berkeley Senior Center

WHEN: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
“Council Member Spring represented District 4 on the Berkeley City Council for 15 years, and served the Berkeley community for much longer,” said City Manager Phil Kamlarz. “With her passing, we lose a true public servant who was devoted to her district and to Berkeley. She was a passionate advocate on behalf of her constituents, her City and the people of all walks of life who she cared so deeply about. Her focus, her energy and her commitment have set a high standard for community service, and she will be missed.”
