Berkeley, California (Wednesday, November 26, 2008) - The City of Berkeley is pleased to present an exhibition of watercolor paintings in the lobby gallery at 1947 Center Street, Berkeley, CA. Sonia Gill, Berkeley resident, is showing paintings of her orchard in Yorkville, in Mendocino County.
These intimate views through the branches of the orchard will be on view in the lobby gallery of 1947 Center Street during regular building hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday from December 1, 2008 through February 27, 2009.
Using the microcosm of the orchard to represent many aspects of her life, Ms. Gill creates dramatic compositions and depths of field. The contrast of light and dark, and her love of color reveal her delight in the myriad possibilities of watercolor techniques.
The artist has taught Art and French from one coast to the other, and in several Berkeley Schools. She has exhibited widely in California and has won numerous awards. Paintings and details may be seen at www.soniagill.com.
