SUICIDE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF ENTOMBED BODY
Berkeley, California (Thursday, December 18, 2008) - On December 15, 2008 at approximately 6:00PM Berkeley Police Officers responded to the 2200 block of Ashby Ave for a report of a verbal argument. When they reached the scene officers were confronted by an armed man, later identified as Hassan Bin Ali 60, of Berkeley.
Ali took his own life with a handgun in front of the responding officers and was then transported to the Alameda County Hospital by the Berkeley Fire Department where he was pronounced dead.
On December 17th at 6:10PM, acting on information gained during the investigation, Detectives obtained a search warrant for the address where the suicide had been committed. During their search, Detectives discovered human remains entombed on the first floor of the building.
The matter is being investigated as a suspicious death case.
