BERKELEY ANIMAL SHELTER TO BE AT INDIGO GIRLS’ CONCERT FOOD DRIVE
BACS and Alameda County Community Food Bank to be accepting donations for pet food and people food
Berkeley, California (Friday, May 08, 2009) - At next Wednesday’s Indigo Girls’ show, concert-goers can donate pet food to Berkeley Animal Care Services. The food will go to support animals at the City’s shelter and will be given to low-income families in need.
“We were thrilled when the Indigo Girls’ representative called and invited us to have a booth at the show,” said BACS manager Kate O’Connor. “In partnership with the non-profit organization Rock for a Remedy, the Indigo Girls have been collecting donations for food banks all over the country, which is wonderful, and they identified the need to collect food for animals, too. This will help us take care of the animals in our care, and help struggling families care for their own pets.”
The concert is on Wednesday in Zellerbach Auditorium on the University of California, Berkeley campus, and donations will also be collected for the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
The best kind of pet food to donate is dry or canned dog and cat food and canned kitten food and milk replacer (for underage kittens and puppies).
