ARREST MADE IN AQUATIC PARK HOMICIDE
Berkeley, California (Friday, November 13, 2009) -
Curtis Martin III, 38 of Oakland
Shortly after 1:00 p.m., Oakland Police arrested Curtis Martin III at Chestnut Street and 24th Avenue in Oakland, for his alleged involvement in this morning’s homicide in Aquatic Park. Oakland Police were acting on information provided to them by the BPD Homicide Detail.
Detectives learned of Martin’s alleged involvement through their ongoing investigation. This information was sent out as a “Be On the Look Out” Bulletin to neighboring agencies. Detectives continue to examine the crime scene for additional evidence while attempts are made to notify the victim’s next of kin.
The city’s 5th homicide was discovered this morning shortly after 4:00 a.m. when a patrol officer conducted a routine security check in the West Berkeley Park and found the female adult victim lying on the shoreline adjacent to a parking lot on Bolivar Drive.
The Berkeley Police are grateful for the assistance provided by the Oakland Police Department in helping them close this case.
