CABBIE ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL BATTERY
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, April 27, 2010) - The City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) has arrested a cabbie who sexually battered women fares in January 2008 and April 2010. Investigation by patrol officers led to the arrest of Ali Al Obadi, 29 of Oakland who was charged with PC 207 (Kidnapping), PC 236 (False Imprisonment), and two counts of PC 243.4 (Sexual Battery). Ali Al Obadi works as a taxi driver for an Oakland based Taxi Company.
In both cases, Ali Al Obadi was working as a driver when he picked up the women, asked them to sit in the front seat of his cab, forcibly held their hands and groped their breasts. In one of the cases, the victim reported Ali Al Obadi drove in the opposite direction of her home and took her to Oakland. After numerous demands to take her home, Ali Al Obadi drove the victim back to Berkeley where he put his finger down her pants, fondled her breasts and forced the victim to touch his crotch.
