BPD SPECIAL OLYMPICS PARTICIPATION CONTINUES WITH “TIP-A-COP” 2011
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, August 23, 2011) - On Thursday, August 25th, members of the City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) are once again participating in Tip-a-Cop. Tip-a Cop is another in a series of fundraisers for Special Olympics of Northern California. The event is being held at Skates on the Bay in the Berkeley Marina from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
BPD personnel, including Chief Michael K. Meehan, will be supporting the wait staff at the restaurant to earn “tips” that will directly benefit the athletes of Special Olympics.

So far this year, BPD’s participation in Special Olympics fundraising has resulted in $17,305 of donations during their May Trampoline Dip! Duck! Dive! Dodge Ball Team Tournament, the June Torch Run and the July BPD conceived “Tutu Ride.”
The women and men of BPD demonstrate another form of special service to the community during these events and the community is generous in giving.
