BERKELEY POLICE INVESTIGATING SECOND HOMICIDE OF 2013
Berkeley, California (Wednesday, July 17, 2013) - Berkeley, California (Wednesday, July 17, 2013) – The City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1800 block of Derby Street.
On Wednesday, at approximately 6:52 p.m., BPD patrol officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired, with a victim down in the 1800 block of Derby Street. BPD officers arrived on scene and discovered a single male victim down, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Berkeley Fire Department. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. BPD is not releasing the victim’s name at this time.
BPD Homicide detectives and officers are actively working the crime scene, canvassing the area, interviewing witnesses and following up on leads.
