CALL FOR ARTISTS
Berkeley Utility Box Art Program: Streets Alive Project
Berkeley, California (Wednesday, August 21, 2013) - The City of Berkeley Civic Arts Commission announces a new Call for Artists for the “Berkeley Utility Box Art Program: Streets Alive” public art project. This project is a unique public-private partnership with the Earth Island Institute to provide placement of art in Berkeley. The project has also received national recognition when CNN produced a weekend segment documenting the process.
In this new Call for Artists, two City owned Utility Boxes on Telegraph Avenue and four in South Berkeley are sponsored by the Office of Economic Development/Civic Arts Program for artists to create professional designs. Project details can be viewed
at: http://dev.earthisland.org/streetsalive/assets/BerkeleyCallforArtists082013.pdf. This opportunity is open to artists who live or work in Alameda County, with strong preference given to Berkeley-based artists.
PORTFOLIOS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2013 AT 4:00 PM.
