BERKELEY POLICE MAKE ARREST IN AUGUST HOMICIDE
Berkeley, California (Wednesday, September 11, 2013) - Berkeley, California (Wednesday, September 11, 2013) – City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) Homicide Detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Dustin Bynum. Krishna Ferreira, 23, of San Leandro was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail on September 10, 2013 for murder, PC 187.
On Thursday, August 1, 2013 at approximately 9:18 p.m., BPD patrol officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired, with a victim down in the 1800 block of San Pablo Avenue. BPD officers arrived on scene and discovered a single male victim, 24 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Berkeley Fire Department. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Detectives have been gathering evidence and pursuing leads in relation to Bynum’s murder since August. Detectives developed information implicating Ferreira as a suspect in Bynum’s murder and an arrest warrant was sought. Ferreira was located and arrested by the Berkeley Police Department in San Leandro. The case has been forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for charging.
In the interest of maintaining the integrity of this investigation, BPD will not be releasing anything further at this time.
