CITY HALL ART SHOW AND RECEPTION

Berkeley, California (Tuesday, February 25, 2014) - The public is invited to the annual Civic Center Art Exhibition, which will display the jury-selected works of 28 artists who live or work in Berkeley. This has turned the civic center building into a six-story art gallery.

The public can meet the 28 artists, whose work was chosen by a professional panel, at an aftenoon reception hosted by Vice Mayor Linda Maio. The Civic Arts Commission, which advises the City Council on all matters affecting the beauty and culture of the city, will also announce five works that will be bought to be included in the City's official art collection.

Members of the public can purchase the art through the City of Berkeley's Civic Arts Program; all proceeds go directly to the artists.

There will be music by guitarist Pete Madsen. Refreshments will be served. The City of Berkeley contracted with the Berkeley Art Center and Kala Art Institute to assist the Civic Arts Coordinator and the Civic Arts Commission to help organize and mount this exhibition, which will be on display through the Spring.
