Dorothy Bolte Park, with its beautiful views looking down from the hillside, offers play areas and places to picnic.

History
The City of Berkeley purchased this property in 1940. In June 1969, residents requested development of a neighborhood park at the site, and the first improvements were constructed. Neighbors agreed to plant and maintain the landscaping. Further improvements were made in 1970. In 1982, the California Conservation Corps renovated the landscaping at no cost to the City. In 1985, the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council voted to name the park after Dorothy M. Bolte, a longtime dedicated Parks Department employee. In 1995 the upper terrace play equipment was replaced and upgraded. In 2000, with the help of the Friends of Dorothy Bolte Park, school-age play equipment was added at the lower terrace.
