The City of Berkeley Police Department presents this web feature to showcase recent crimes where community members can participate in assisting our Detectives with information that may help solve a crime. During some BPD investigations, BPD is able to get surveillance or other photographs of crime suspects, but we do not know who they are.

Wanted for Robbery #2013-14008

Berkeley Police Department

BPD Detectives are actively investigating an armed robbery that occurred near the intersection of Milvia and Stuart Streets on March 13, 2013.  The depicted individual is believed to be the suspect.  

The victim was confronted by the suspect, who demanded his property.  During the incident, the victim was struck several times with the gun causing non-life threatening injuries.  The suspect fled the area and was last seen getting onto an AC Transit bus after the incident.

Wanted For CarJacking  #2012-523014
East Bay Regional Parks PD

This is a photo of the suspect responsible for a carjacking at Sea Breeze Market on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. The investigation is being handled by the East Bay Regional Parks Police Department. (EBRPP) Sea Breeze is frequented by many City of Berkeley community members.

Wanted For Armed Robbery             BPD Case # 2011-67962

The suspect pictured in this surveillance image used a gun  to rob the Subway located in the 2600 block of Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. The suspect made off with cash from the register. The suspect fled on foot southbound on Telegraph Avenue.

The suspect was described as "a black male, light to medium complexion, goatee, 35 years old, 5'9" tall wearing a black beanie, black hooded jacket with a grey interior and black tennis shoes with a white stripe along the soles.  

On December 5, 2011 at a few minutes before 8:00 p.m., the same Subway was robbed by a similar looking suspect. In that case the suspect was described as a black male, light complexion, medium build, early 20s, wearing a knit cap, a bulky black hoodie with red lettering and dark baggy jeans.

Wanted for Theft and Fraud        BPD Case #2011-90380

This suspect has been using credit cards that were stolen in the City of Berkeley recently. If she enters your business or you see her on the street call BPD immediately and mention this feature. Please be on the lookout for the following stolen bike -a green “Bike Friday”, model “Tikit”, size medium. This is a folding bike with a belt drive (not a chain), it also has an internal 8 speed hub. The retail price of one of these bikes is over $2,000.00. The bike owner left the bike in her car and it was stolen sometime between November 13-15, 2011. She had the serial number which the BPD officer entered into the Automated Property System (APS) - a stolen property database. The picture of the bicycle below is similiar to the stolen bike, although hers has no fenders.

Robbery of Credit Union     BPD Case #11-25020

On May 5, 2011, at 12:15 p.m., the male suspect caught on these surveillances images robbed the Patelco Credit Union, located in downtown Berkeley in the 2000 block of Shattuck Avenue. The suspect approached a teller window, threatened that he had a gun and demanded cash. The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described by witnesses  as “a Black Male, short hair, dark complexion, 25-30 years old, 6’-6’4” feet tall wearing a letterman style jacket with a dark colored body and light colored sleeves and a backpack.

On February 25, 2011, at about 9:30 a.m., the suspect on this surveillance picture  suspect stole a 1997 Honda Civic,
4 door, green from the Alta Bates Hospital garage.

On January 31, 2011, a home in the 1300 block of Carrison Street was
burglarized and a men's mountain bike was stolen. The suspect was
described by a witness as "Black Woman Adult, approx. 36 years old,
5'5", heavy set wearing a black pea coat, blue jeans and has missing
teeth. This suspect was last seen nearby trying to sell the bike that is
shown in this photograph. Anyone with any information on the identity
of the suspect or the whereabouts of the stolen bicycle, please call the

Case # 11-6190

On January 6, 2011, the suspect caught on this surveillance photograph entered the CVS Pharmacy at 2300 Shattuck Avenue at approximately 9:34 p.m.  He pointed a handgun at an employee/cashier clerk and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot out the front entry doors of the shop. Witnesses describe the suspect as “a black male adult, 20 -30 years old, approximately 6’ tall, thin build, hair “slicked back in possible braids, doo rag on head, wearing a grayish sweatshirt with a mountain design (as depicted) and jeans.”

BPD is urging anyone who may know anything about this robbery or the identity of this suspect to call the BPD Crimes Against Persons/Robbery Detail at (510)981-5742 or  the 24 hour BPD non emergency number of (510) 981-5900. Sometimes the smallest or seemingly insignificant detail can be the key to arresting the suspect or suspects in any crime.

Wanted For Armed Robbery

On October 28, 2010 at about 4:54 a.m., the above depicted suspects entered the 7-Eleven store at College Avenue and Russell Streets and  robbed the business via handgun.  The black male in the black hooded sweatshirt gave the clerk cash and asked him to make change.  When the clerk opened the register, the second black male in the red beanie cap turned around and produced a semi-auto handgun from his waistband.  The two robbed the business of cash from the register.

An hour prior to the robbery, the black males cased the business which is shown in the top left picture.  The suspect who was armed with the handgun is seen wearing a tan zip up sweater during the casing of the business. 

The suspects are in their late teens to early 20’s, 5-07, 150 thin build.  The handgun is described as a black semi-auto handgun.

On Monday October 11, 2010 at about 10:43 p.m., the above depicted black male was in front of the liquor store at Ashby and Sacramento Street arguing with his girlfriend.  The argument became violent and the female ran to a male standing nearby for help.  The black male gave chase and confronted the male who would then become the focal point of the black male’s anger.  The black male violently battered the male, knocking him unconscious.  When the victim regained consciousness, he noticed his wallet, money and cellular phone was stolen.

Wanted For Auto Burglary

On September 23, 2010 at 5:15 p.m., the victim parked her auto at Spruce and Vassar Streets. The victim placed her purse under the driver seat and locked her vehicle. The victim went to pick up her child at the daycare on Spruce Street and returned after 15 minutes to find her window smashed and her purse gone. The victim noticed two women seated in a parked car behind her when she parked her auto; however, the car was gone when she returned. The above female suspect used the victim’s credit to make a $400.00 purchase at Office Depot about 20 minutes after the theft. The female suspect matches the description of one of the females that were seated in the suspicious vehicle.

Please keep this vehicle and suspect in mind. They are most likely responsible for several similar thefts in the north. Similar incidents have been reported around Cragmont School during the day time hours.  Please contact me if you have any information or make any stops.

Wanted For Theft and Fraud of Elderly Community Members

In the late afternoon of August 11, 2010 on the 1300 block of Santa Fe Avenue, two women suspects gained the confidence of a 72-year old female resident, distracting her enough to gain access to her home and to steal her wallet. These suspects later made purchases using the victim’s credit card at Old Navy in Emeryville (where the picture of the suspects was obtained).

Suspects are described as: (1) White Female Adult, in her 40s, 5-04 tall, 120 lbs, bleached blonde hair pulled back    
(2) White Female Adult, 16-17 years old, 5-02 tall, 110 lbs, bleached blonde hair

In the late afternoon of August 14, 2010 on the 1200 block of Kains Avenue, two male suspects gained the confidence of a
71-year old male resident.  The suspects engaged the resident by claiming they were interested in purchasing his boat. The suspects left in a two door Camaro-style vehicle with a rounded rear/trunk. There was no loss in the case because the suspects were not allowed to wander around the resident’s house alone
.
Suspects are described as:
Adult male with an olive complexion, in his 30s, 5-10 tall, 140 lbs, thin, shaved hair, t-shirt, jeans
Adult male with an olive complexion, in his 30s, 5-10 tall, 180 lbs, stocky, short curly hair, button down shirt and khaki pants

Wanted For Auto Burglary and Fraud

On July 26, 2010, a victim’s vehicle was burglarized in the area of 2920 Wheeler Street.  The victim later discovered some fraudulent charges were made on the stolen credit cards.  Some of the charges were made at the above Chevron at 2996 Shattuck Ave.  The suspect’s vehicle appears to be a black 4 door Audi or VW.  Please forward any information to the Property Crimes office at 510-981-5737.

Possible Stolen Property

On August 17, 2010 at 11:51 a.m., the below items were found in the possession of known Auto Burglar, under BPD Case #10-49668. Area of Harmon and Adeline. Please help identify the possible stolen/recovered items. 

On August 5, 2010 at 3:45 p.m., the above suspect stole a red Cannondale road bike from REI, 1338 San Pablo Avenue.  The suspect fled north bound on San Pablo Ave prior to officers arriving. The suspect, a white male, early 20s, 508, 155 lbs, thin build, brown hair-approx. 2” in length, clean cut, was seen wearing a dark hooded windbreaker, tan pants, and black tennis shoes.  The suspect was also carrying a light blue messenger style bag over his shoulder.

The bicycle is a  Cannondale is a CAAD8  S6, gears: 27, frame: 54, red/black with white writing, Serial # UM54885.  Please forward any information regarding the suspect/bicycle to Ofc. Baber #116 at 510-981-5900

Wanted For Burglary - SUSPECT ID NEEDED

On July 25, 2010, the above pictured suspects entered the victims apartment at 2424 Haste Street and stole a laptop and power cords.  The suspects tore the screen on the window and then reached in to unlock the front door and made entry.

Wanted For Theft

Please help identify this suspect. On July 13, 2010 a suspect entered the YMCA Men’s locker room and stole an unattended backpack (BPD Case 010-42161) while the victim was taking a shower. The suspect is in the lower left corner of the first four images and is seen exiting the YMCA, and in the second image the suspect is exiting the locker room with the stolen backpack.  If you any information regarding this case, please contact the Berkeley Police Department at 510-981-5900.

Wanted For Theft

Below pictured suspects stole over $5,000 worth of jewelry from a College Avenue store. They stole the jewelry by using a fraudulent credit card. They selected the items they wanted to purchase, presented the card for payment, and when it was declined, they handed the cashier THEIR OWN mobile phone where a person reported to be the credit card company. The unknown telephone accomplice provided an authorization code that made the fraudulent transaction get approved. The suspects are thought to be responsible for a few theft by similar means in Berkeley. Information regarding their identities may be directed to the Property Crimes Detail, Det. Possible Stolen Property

On the night of April 29th in the area of Scenic Ave. and Hilgard Ave., these two bicycles were recovered during the arrest of two suspected burglars.  Both bicycles are Schwinns; one is a “Clear Creek” model while the other is a “Sky Liner” model.  If you are the owner of the bicycles, or if you have any information about them, please contact Detective Earl Emelson of the B.P.D.
