BHS YellowJacketSince 1991, the Berkeley High School Health Center has offered free and confidential medical, health education, and mental health services to all students at Berkeley High School, students of Independent Studies, and Berkeley Technology Academy. As of January 2009, a new Health Center opened up at the Berkeley Technology Academy to serve B-Tech students.  Both Health Centers provide First Aid services; Physicals and Sports Exams for students without medical insurance; Sexual Health and STI testing and treatment; Immunizations; Assistance with referrals for primary care and insurance; Pregnancy/STI/ HIV Prevention; Substance Abuse Prevention; Crisis Intervention; Individual Short Term Counseling; Support Groups; and much more!

Our Vision

The Berkeley High School Health Center is a safe, nurturing, and dynamic multicultural teen health center.  Our teens are encouraged to develop the skills they need to take ownership and responsibility for their own health and wellness as well as that of the larger community.

Our Mission

The Berkeley High School Health Center empowers teens to take responsibility for their physical, emotional, and social health by engaging their strengths, experiences, and knowledge.  The Health Center provides access to culturally appropriate care through a combination of direct services, partnerships, and referrals to community resources.


What services does the Berkeley High School Health Center offer?

First Aid:  Evaluation and first aid treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, immunizations, and identification of students with chronic illnesses to refer for case management

Medical:  CHDP exams, sports physicals for uninsured students, family planning exams

Health Education:  Pregnancy prevention and testing, STD/HIV prevention and testing, drug/alcohol prevention education, nutritional education

Mental Health:  Individual counseling, crisis intervention, and support groups

Youth Development Programming: After school peer education programs at Berkeley High School and Berkeley Technology Academy: CHANGE, PASSHEN, and YAB.


Cost for Services:  FREE for Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD) high school students

Languages Spoken:  English and Spanish (other language translation available upon request)

Who is the program for?  All students at Berkeley High School, Berkeley Technology Academy (B-Tech), and Independent Studies
