Welcome to the Berkeley Redevelopment Agency (BRA)
The Berkeley Redevelopment Agency (BRA) manages capital projects and financing, as well as the creation of affordable housing in the West Berkeley and Savo Island Redevelopment Areas. The West Berkeley Redevelopment Area is bound by University Avenue, I-80, and Sixth and Cedar Streets. The Savo Island Redevelopment Area is bound by Milvia, Adeline, Ward and Stuart Streets. In the Savo Island Area, the Agency is maintaining and rehabilitating several affordable housing units

The BRA's current efforts in West Berkeley include:
- West Berkeley Circulation Master Plan Report or WBCMP Report, including reviewing existing and future conditions and an Implementation Strategy for capital improvements and Transportation Demand Management to reduce area-wide congestion.
- Quiet Zone (QZ) Feasibility Study – including review of Berkeley’s 7 at grade crossing and analysis if feasibility of eliminating or modifying the time or type of whistles are used as warn of approaching trains
Kenney Cottage Garden - Creation of a community garden and relocation of a 1,000 square foot historic community facility for artisans on a former vacant West Berkeley lot.
Preservation and creation of long-term affordable rental and ownership housing units. Click here for more information about the

The Berkeley Redevelopment Agency governance is made up of the members of the City Council with the City Manager serving as the Executive Director. The West Berkeley Project Area Commission is made up of the Council appointees living, working or owning property in or proximate to the Redevelopment Area, these citizen's advise the Agency Board on recommendations for realizing the West Berkeley Redevelopment Plan and fulfillment of the 2005-2009 Implementation Plan. Savo Island does not have a citizen advisory committee. The City's Planning and Development Department provide staff support the PAC and are responsible for day to day operations of the Agency.
