Council District Maps - UPDATED! - As required under the Berkeley City Charter (Article V, Section 9), the City Council must adjust, if necessary, the boundaries of council districts every ten years as a result of census counts in order to equalize population within each district.  The 2000 Census reported Berkeley’s population at 102,743.  While this was only an increase of 19 people from the 1990 census, shifts in population within each district required the Council to enter into a public process to redraw district boundaries to equalize populations within each district.
