Monkey Island is a flat open lawn area with landscaping providing neighborhood green space.
Monkey Island was built with Measure Y funds after voters passed a bond measure in 1974 to fund additional park development to meet the open space needs of Berkeley’s citizens. The project involved street closure and conversion and expanded landscaping.
No Off-Street Parking

The park is an unpaved lawn, wheelchair accessible only on the streets
