PAST STREET PROJECTS
Just a few of the many street rehabilitation projects completed by the city.

Spruce Street Pavement Rehabilitation - Spruce Street from Grizzly Peak Boulevard to Arch Street was reconstructed and new drainage facilities, curb ramps, markings, and signage were installed. This $2 million project was funded in part by a Federal Surface Transportation Program grant.
Solano Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation - Solano Avenue from the Albany border at Tulare Avenue to Contra Costa Avenue was reconstructed. New curb ramps, concrete bus pads, and thermoplastic pavement striping/markings were installed.
Street Rehabilitation FY 2006 Phase 2 - Shattuck Avenue, Oxford Street, Walnut Street, and Vine Street were reconstructed. Also included were drainage improvements, new curb ramps and thermoplastic pavement striping/markings.
Street Rehabilitation FY 2006 Phase 3 - Carrison Street, 67th Street, 66th Street, and 65th Street were rehabilitated. Speed humps, new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were also installed.
Piedmont Avenue Reconstruction - Piedmont Avenue from Dwight Way to Bancroft Way was reconstructed. Also included were new median island curbs, minor drainage improvements, new curb ramps, and thermoplastic striping/markings.
South Berkeley Street Reconstruction - Haskell Street, Acton Street, and Prince Street in South Berkeley were reconstructed. Also included were a new valley gutter to improve drainage, new curb ramps, and thermoplastic striping/markings.
Gilman Street Overlay - Gilman Street from San Pablo Avenue to Hopkins Street was overlayed. Also included were new valley gutters, new curb ramps, pedestrian bulbouts at Northside and Ordway, and thermoplastic striping/markings.
Street Rehabilitation FY 2008 Phase 1 - Deakin Street, Julia Street, and El Camino Real were reconstructed. Included in the project were minor drainage improvements, new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Way Overlay - M. L. King, Jr. Way was overlayed from Yolo Avenue to Adeline Street and from Adeline Street to the city limit with Oakland. Included in the project were minor drainage improvements, new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings and new video traffic detection systems and pedestrian push buttons/kick-plates at Hearst Avenue, Center Street, Allston Way, Dwight Way, Derby Street, and Adeline Street.
Street Rehabilitation FY 2007 - Dana Street, Gilman Street from I-80 to 3rd Street, Harrison Street, 9th Street, and Parker Street were reconstructed. Gilman Street from 3rd Street to Stannage Avenue, 7th Street, and Hollis Street were overlayed. New valley gutters were installed on Dana Street and Parker Street to improve drainage. Also included in the project were minor drainage improvements on other streets, new curb ramps and new thermoplastic striping/markings.
