Energy Conservation Ordinances
Conserving energy in existing buildings is an important goal for the City of Berkeley. It helps save money and reduces green house gas emissions.
RECO/CECO Transition to BESO: The Building Energy Saving Ordinance (BESO) was adopted into law on unanimous consent on March 10, 2015 and will replace RECO/CECO starting on December 1, 2015 (starting on October 9, sellers have the choice of complying with RECO or BESO).
