$15K Reward Offered for 7th Homicide of 2008
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, June 3, 2008) – The City of Berkeley is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting death of a man in South Berkeley.
On May 28, 2008 at approximately 11:32 p.m., the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) responded to multiple reports of numerous shots fired in the area of Tyler and California Streets in South Berkeley. Upon their arrival, officers found Anthony “Tony” Beamon, 29, suffering from several gunshot wounds. The Berkeley Fire Department transported Beamon to Alameda County Hospital, where he subsequently died of his injuries.
Homicide Detectives have been working on the case since Thursday and have yet to make any arrests in the case but are pursuing several leads. The death of Beamon is the 7th homicide of 2008.
