A guide to the Addison street sidewalk art

Artwork for site number 3 of the Addison Street Sidewalk Art is designed and fabricated by Jenny Cole. Site number 3 is located next to the City parking garage on the south side of Addison Street in front of the new Art Tech Building.

Jenny Cole has designed low-relief sand-casts and ceramic tile components, which along with made and found objects, are arranged to create rings of color and texture in the pavement. Her image medley is rooted in the natural history of the Bay Area and includes animal tracks, botanical relief, sea glass, feathers, bronze tokens, bicycle gears, and wing nuts.

Jenny Cole's assembly refers to the living community of Berkeley's plant, human and animal populations. In the artist's own words, the piece looks to inspire a spirit of play, history and green mischief in keeping with the City's reputation. Jenny Cole's contribution to the Addison Street Sidewalk Art emphasizes the diverse and individual dynamics that have shaped the City of Berkeley.
