Online Payment Option for City-billed Refuse Accounts To Be Temporarily Suspended

Berkeley, California (Monday, April 02, 2007) - The City’s current online payment site for refuse bills, which has been operating since January 2006, will be replaced this summer with an improved and more user friendly online payment service.
While this service is being put in place, current online customers are being asked to pay their refuse bills by mail, over the phone, or in person. Of the 13,000 City-billed refuse accounts, only 50 are currently enrolled in the online payment option and will be affected by this change. Refuse accounts billed on annual property tax statements must be paid to the County and will not be affected.

Current online payment account holders will receive further information sent to their email address registered with the system. Online payments scheduled to be processed on or before Tuesday, April 10th will be processed as scheduled, and payments scheduled after April 10th will be canceled.

These changes in online payment options affect only refuse payments – customers can still pay their parking citations online. For the City’s Parking Tickets Information web page, visit:
