Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

Berkeley, California (Friday, March 16, 2007) - City of Berkeley Police Investigators have released a photo of a suspect who was arrested and charged with sexual assault in Berkeley last week.

On Friday, March 9, 2007, Berkeley Police officers responded to Miller Avenue in the North-Eastern hill area of the city regarding a report of a sexual assault of the homeowner’s houseguest.  Shortly after officers spoke with the victim, they arrested 35 year-old Robert “Bob” Davis near the home where the assault occurred. Davis’s painting company, “Meister Painting Company,” had been contracted by the homeowner.

Reported sexual assaults of this type are very uncommon in Berkeley. In 2006, there were five reported rapes, and this is down from 2005, when seven were reported.

Berkeley Sex Crimes Investigators believe this is an isolated incident, but are asking anyone who has hired Davis in the past and may have been assaulted by him to contact the Berkeley Police Department Sex Crimes Unit at (510) 981-5735.
