DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY ART EXHIBIT
March 1 - May 1, 2007, 1947 Center Street Lobby Gallery
Berkeley, California (Wednesday, February 28, 2007) - The City of Berkeley is pleased to announce the premier of a digital photography art show on display at the 1947 Center Street Lobby Gallery. The exhibit features contemporary digital photography created by photographers affiliated with the Berkeley City College Multimedia Arts Department. There will be a meet and greet artist reception on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 4 - 5 p.m. in the Balsam Room, 1947 Center Street 1st Floor, Berkeley.
Photographers use cutting edge photographic techniques and printing technology in contrast to the traditional photography methods. The images are no longer developed in a dark room, but are completed through the use of editing software and ultimately printed with a variety of media including paper, canvas, fabric and even metal.
The 1947 Center Street Gallery is a public space located in the lobby of the 1930s era building at 1947 Center Street, between Milvia Street and Martin Luther King. This gallery space in a City of Berkeley building is part of the Civic Arts, Public Art Program.
The gallery is wheel chair accessible and photographs will be on view during regular building hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information about the exhibition please contact Mary Ann Merker, Civic Arts Coordinator at (510) 981-7533, or visit the Civic Arts web page at http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/civicarts/publicart.htm.
