Berkeley Police Team Up with U.S. Marine Foundation

Berkeley, California (Friday, December 01, 2006) - The Berkeley Police Department (BPD) will team up with the U.S. Marine Foundation Toys For Tots Program again this year. Toys will be distributed to Berkeley children who would not otherwise receive toys at Christmas. Approximately 3,000 toys were distributed to needy children last year.

To participate in the Toys for Tots Program, Berkeley residents must register through Eden I & R, Inc. – Community Housing and Information Network (CHAIN), at (510) 537-2552, and meet the following eligibility criteria:

·         Proof of Berkeley residency (utility bill) with same name and address

·         Applicants must have photo identification

·         Client Code Number (assigned by Eden I & R)

·         Applicants must show up for distribution – no substitutions


The registration period begins Monday, December 4, at 10:00 a.m. and will end at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2006. Toys will be distributed on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Berkeley Police Department, Public Safety Building, between 8:00 am – 11:00 am.
