COMMUNITY CRIME ALERT - SEXUAL PREDATOR FINDS 12TH VICTIM DETECTIVES SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN IDENTIFYING SUSPECT
Berkeley, California (Monday, February 23, 2009) - On Friday, February 20, 2009 at approximately 1 AM, City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) Patrol Officers responded to the 2100 block of Haste Street near the University of California’s South Campus for a report of sexual battery that detectives believe is linked to the ongoing series.
In this most recent case the suspect approached the lone victim from behind and attempted to grab her dress. When he was unsuccessful he fled the scene westbound on Durant Avenue then south on Fulton Street. Two witnesses to the crime gave chase and helped direct responding officers into the area but UCPD and BPD were unsuccessful in catching him.
The following sketch was compiled by the witnesses’ accounts.
The suspect is described as:
White Male, 20s,
5-10 tall, 160-170 lbs, medium build,
Short dark wavy hair
