CITY OF BERKELEY ELECTION RESULTS

City of Berkeley Election Results will be available on the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website, http://www.acgov.org/rov/, after 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7th. Citizens may also call the Alameda County Registrar at (510) 272-6933 after 8:00 p.m. on Election Night for election results.

Results provided on November 7th are semi-official and will not include all absentee ballots and provisional ballots returned up through election night.  These ballots are tabulated over the period of several weeks with updated semi-official results announced approximately once a week.

Official election results are required to be certified by the Alameda County Registrar of Voters no later than 28 days (December 5th) after the election. The Berkeley City Council will certify the results at the Council meeting of December 5th, 2006.

Ordinances passed by the voters are effective ten days after the City Council certifies the results.  Measures E, F, G, H, I, and J require a majority vote to pass.

Terms of the Auditor, Mayor, and Councilmembers serving in Districts 1, 4, 7 and 8 and terms of three School Board members and five Rent Board members expire on November 30th.  However, members continue to serve beyond November 30th if results have yet to be certified or if there is to be a Run-off Election for the Mayor and/or any one of the Council seats. The offices of Mayor, Auditor, and Councilmember require 40% of the votes cast to be elected.
