BIKE RODEO IN BERKELEY SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2006
A fun family event to promote safe biking and healthy eating!
Berkeley, California (Friday, May 12, 2006) - The City of Berkeley Injury Prevention and Chronic Disease Prevention Programs will host its 4th Annual Bike Rodeo, on Saturday, May 13, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at San Pablo Park , 2800 Park Street, Berkeley (between Sacramento and San Pablo streets). This year's theme “Live Smart! Eat Smart! Ride Smart!” focuses on safe biking and walking and healthy eating. This event is open to the public and there is no cost for attendance.
The event will include hands on activities for youth to utilize “rules of the road” in the mock city and skill challenges such as slow races. There will also be information tables and opportunities throughout the day to participate in a presentation and earn a free helmet; as well as, an ongoing raffle to win prizes for participation.
The 4th Annual Bike Rodeo was organized by a team which includes: Bicycle Friendly Berkeley Coalition, Berkeley Boosters, Frances Albrier Community Center, Safe Kids Coalition, San Pablo Park Neighborhood Council, Young Adult Project, Berkeley Police Department and the City of Berkeley Health and Human Services Injury Prevention and Chronic Disease Prevention Programs.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
