An Exhibit of Paintings, Mixed Media Collages and Sculptures

Berkeley, California (Thursday, February 02, 2006) - An exhibition of paintings, drawings, mixed media collages, and sculptures created by toddlers and preschoolers  participating in Habitot Children’s Museum’s Drop-in Art Studio, classes, or off-site programs will be featured at the Addison Street Windows Gallery, January 26 through February 24. Habitot’s Art Studio engages 35,000 children annually in hands-on art activities, fostering creative art exploration and child development. Habitot’s art program received $9,000 from the Berkeley Civic Arts Commission in 2005.

The Addison Street Windows Gallery, across from the Berkeley Repertory and Aurora Theaters in downtown Berkeley, can be viewed from the sidewalk. It is free and wheelchair accessible. The Windows Gallery is a project of the Civic Arts Program of the City of Berkeley in cooperation with the Civic Arts Commission.

Habitot Children’s Museum is the East Bay’s award-winning hands-on discovery museum for young children. Its mission is to nurture and enrich the lives of young children, their families, and the adults who care for them by providing an environment for early childhood learning and exploration, parenting education and community outreach. Habitot ensures accessibility for all Bay Area families through its Family Outreach Program, bringing more than 8,000 low-income and at-risk children into the museum every year through scholarships, subsidized memberships and free admissions days.

More than 500,000 people have enjoyed the museum’s interactive exhibits, art programs and classes since its opening in 1998. Not just a place to entertain young children, Habitot provides resources and support for early childhood learning, parenting success, and community connection.

Habitot is located on 2065 Kittredge Street in downtown Berkeley. Admission is $6 Child (children under 12 months are free), $5 Adult. Call (510) 647-1111 or visit for more details.
