Annual Report Projects Brighter Future

Berkeley, California (Thursday, January 26, 2006) - Sometime this week, Berkeley's 2005 Annual Report will arrive in over 54,000 mailboxes, as well as public libraries and senior centers.  In spite of the last three years' rampant  budget trimming and program reorganization, this year's Annual Report projects an upbeat revitalization in arts, culture and affordable housing.  A new feature inserted into the Annual Report is a stamped, pull-out Customer Satisfaction Survey card to rank the City's services overall.

On the heels of the tragic Gulf Coast hurricanes, the Report urges individual and community preparedness, and provides useful  information for community members to become more prepared.  Since August of last year, over 39 community workshops on disaster preparedness have been given at community and neighborhood sites, reaching over 1,313 residents.  In response to the continuing community demand for more training and preparedness, the City is planning  more preparedness events and incentives throughout this year.  To learn more, check the City's website under "Emergency Preparedness," and stay tuned for event announcements.  Click here to view the 2005 Annual Report on-line.
