COMMUNITY CRIME ALERT - DETECTIVES INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Berkeley, California (Wednesday, April 22, 2009) - This morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., Berkeley Police Department (BPD) Patrol Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on the 1100 block of Hearst Avenue in Northwest Berkeley.  The suspect entered the victim’s home through an unlocked window and woke her with demands that she perform a sexual act.  The victim began screaming and the suspect fled the residence. 

The victim described the suspect as:
Black male, early 20s
5’08” tall
Medium to Athletic build
Wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt

The community is encouraged to employ the following Crime Prevention measures as spring temperatures increase:
