The Communicable Disease Control Program works in partnership with the medical and neighborhood communities to control and prevent the occurrence and spread of communicable diseases through prevention, surveillance and outbreak control.


Physicians who need to report a suspected public health emergency should contact the Public Health division immediately at (510) 981-5300; or after hours, call Berkeley Police dispatch at (510) 981-5911 and ask for the Health Officer On Call.
