Measure WW Bonds & Grants

Measure WW is a local grant program for the acquisition and development of countywide and regional parks and recreation facilities. It is funded by a bond measure approved by Alameda County and Contra Costa County voters in November 2008. Of the total $500 million in bond funding, 75% ($375 million) will fund East Bay Regional Park District acquisition and development and 25% ($125 million) is available to East Bay cities based on population. The City of Berkeley received $4.876 million.  The City conducted a distribution process through Parks and Recreation Commission in 2010 and all the funds have been allocated to the following projects:

    • Dock Replacement at South Sailing Cove in the Berkeley Marina—Design Phase
  1. Cosco Busan Oil Spill Recreational Facilities Grant Program (Applied September 2012)
    • Maintenance dredging at the Main Channel and the South Sailing Cove
    • Repairing the Berkeley Pier and improving accessibility
    • Replacing two existing small boat docks(east and west) at the South Sailing Cove
    • Construction of a new restroom at the South Sailing Cove parking lot
    • Paving the existing parking lot including a new windsurf rigging area at the South Sailing Cove parking lot.
