The Division on Aging offers a variety of free classes, workshops, and social events for adults 55 years of age and older (60 years and older for the lunch program). Currently, more than 1,200 seniors participate in activities held daily at two distinctive neighborhood Centers or in our home-delivered meal program. Our programs attract seniors with diverse backgrounds and interests who frequent the Centers for cultural exchange, meeting with friends, and enjoying delicious noon-time meals.  If you have recently retired, or simply want a delightful place to remain active, healthy, and enjoy good fellowship, please visit any or all, of our beautiful Senior Centers, located in North Berkeley, and South Berkeley.

SUPPORT RESOURCES

Multi SeniorsSocial Services
The Aging Services Division Social Services Unit provides consultation and referral in many areas of concern for seniors in our Berkeley community.

Senior Injury Prevention Program
The program identifies older adults at risk and then targets assistance to them that will help the senior to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Information Services
Seniors or caregivers can consult with a specialist about local resources and receive individualized assistance.  We have staff to assist seniors in need of resources.

Caregiver Support Program
Provides consultation, information and assistance, and education  for family caregivers.  One in four households nationally cares for a chronically ill or disabled family member.  Because caregivers often feel stressed or over-burdened this program endeavors to provide support to the caregiver.

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Exercise Classes & Pursuing Creative Interests
Exercise classes,
a variety of creative arts and crafts courses, and foreign language classes are offered at both the North and South Berkeley Senior Centers.
