Berkeley, California (Friday, October 30, 2009) - On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the community is invited to attend the 2009 “Are You Ready?” Health and Community Fair at the St. Paul AME Church, 2024 Ashby Ave., Berkeley from 11am-4pm. The event, coordinated by a collaborative of City and County partners and local dignitaries, is focused on increasing awareness in the community about emergency preparedness, safety and the prevention of chronic illnesses. An exciting list of activities for the day includes the City of Berkeley Fire Department’s Emergency Preparedness presentation called the “5 Critical Steps to Get Ready,” and an informative panel discussion on “Tools for Healthy Living,” with representation from Alameda County Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, City of Berkeley Fire, Police, Public Health, and Communities Under Siege. There will also be fun activities for youth to learn about healthy eating, physical activity, bicycle safety; as well as face painting, raffle prizes, and much more!
