To request a meeting agenda in large print, Braille, or on cassette, or to request a sign interpreter for the meeting, call the city clerk's office at 981-6900 (voice) or 981-6903 (ttd): at least five (5) working days prior to the meeting in order to ensure availability.

The time limit within which to commence any lawsuit or legal challenge related to the applications is governed by section 1094.6 of the code of civil procedure, unless a shorter limitations period is specified by any other provision. Under section 1094.6, any lawsuit or legal challenge to any quasi-adjudicative decision made by the city must be filed no later than the 90th day following the date on which such decision becomes final. Any lawsuit or legal challenge, which is not filed within that 90-day period, will be barred.

Please refrain from wearing scented products to public meetings.

II.                PUBLIC COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS

The applicant and or their designee will have five to ten minutes to make a presentation of their project to the Committee. The public is also invited to make a public comment if they wish. To do so, you should fill out a speaker card before the meeting starts and give it to the Secretary of the Committee. Please be advised that the Committee may limit the number of speakers and the length of time allowed to each speaker (three minutes is the usual amount of time allowed). III.             RE-ARRANGEMENT OF AGENDA ORDER

Due to the large volume of projects, and the limited amount of time available to hear each project, the Design Review Committee has the right to re-arrange the order of the agenda in order to accommodate the projects that will not require a lot of time.

 

 

The next Design Review Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010.

 

IV.             PROJECTS

 

1.   2598-2600 SHATTUCK AVENUE [at Parker] (DR#08-30000090): Continued Preliminary Design Review of a mixed-use development comprised of 2 5-story buildings and one 3-story building, totaling 157 dwelling units, 31 affordable units, 22,484 sq. ft. of net ground floor commercial space, and 158 parking spaces; one building to incorporate existing one-story retail building at 2600 Shattuck; second building to be built on parking lot at 2598 Shattuck.  Discussion will focus on ground-level design of retail, plaza, and residential entries, as well as the landscape program.

 

2.    2711 SHATTUCK AVENUE [between Derby and Ward] (DR#09-30000068):  Preliminary Design Review of a residential hotel development comprised of one 4-story building, totaling 22 solo units, 8,821 gross sq. ft., 2,737 sq. ft. of outdoor garden (front and rear combined), and secure bike parking on site.

 

3.    740 Heinz Avenue: [near Southern Pacific Railway] (DR#09-30000048): Final Design Review Modification of the demolition of an existing single-story, 10,000 square foot, City of Berkeley Landmark (the former Copra Warehouse) to construct a 4-story, 92,000 square foot building to contain research and development laboratories, warehousing, and a 49-space subsurface garage.  Proposal is for modification of approved window finish.
