RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS

Street Rehabilitation

  • Street Rehabilitation FY 2012 - Various streets throughout Berkeley (including 4th, Adeline, Josephine, Lincoln, Northgate, Park Hills, and Yosemite) were overlayed or reconstructed. New curb ramps, thermoplastic striping/markings and upgraded traffic circle signage were also installed. Funding was provided in part by Alameda County Measure B Sales Tax.

  • Sacramento Street Overlay - Sacramento Street was overlayed from University Avenue to Dwight Way. Sidewalk was repaired and new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were installed. Funding was provided from State Proposition 1B Transportation Bond, Alameda County Measure B Sales Tax, and Gas Taxes.

  • Sacramento Street Rehabilitation - Sacramento Street was reconstructed from Dwight Way to Ashby Avenue. Sidewalk was repaired, new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were installed and the in-pavement crosswalk lights at Oregon Street were replaced. Funding was provided by a grant from the Federal Surface Transportation Program and the City's General Fund.

  • Street Rehabilitation FY 2011 - Various streets throughout Berkeley (including Bancroft, Claremont Crescent, Dana, Dowling, Marin, Milvia, Oakvale, and Webster) were overlayed or reconstructed. New concrete valley gutters were installed at Bancroft/5th intersection. New curb ramps, thermoplastic striping/markings and upgraded traffic circle signage and stanchions were also installed. Funding was provided in part by Alameda County Measure B Sales Tax.

  • Street Rehabilitation FY 2011 Phase 2 - Ashby Place, Halcyon Court, Hazel and Webster were overlayed or reconstructed. New curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were installed. A new traffic island was installed at Ashby Place and Ashby Avenue replacing a guardrail. Alameda County Measure B Sales Tax funds were provided from the City's Traffic Calming budget to build the island.

  • Street Rehabilitation FY 2010 - 9th, California, Channing, Ellsworth, and Milvia (all bicycle routes) in Berkeley were overlayed or reconstructed. New curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were installed. New concrete valley gutters were installed at 9th/Channing intersection. Funding was provided in part by Alameda County Measure B Sales Tax.

  • University Avenue - McGee to Oxford - The pavement on University Avenue from McGee Avenue to Oxford Street was reconstructed/overlayed, sidewalk was repaired and new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were installed. Funding was provided by State funds from Proposition 1B Transportation Bond.

  • Street Rehabilitation FY 2009 - Various streets throughout Berkeley (including Bateman Street, Bay View Place, Bonita Avenue, Hilgard Avenue, Le Roy Avenue, Mabel Street, Middlefield Road, Rose Street, Scenic Avenue, Spring Way, The Crossways, and Virginia Street) were overlayed or reconstructed.  Storm drain improvements were made at the Mabel/Carrison, Mabel/Haskell, Mabel/67th, and Mabel/66th intersections. New curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were also installed. Funding was provided in part by Alameda County Measure B Sales Tax.

  • University Avenue Paving Phase 3 - The pavement on University Avenue from Sacramento Street to McGee Avenue was reconstructed, sidewalk was repaired and new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were installed. Funding was provided by an economic stimulus transportation grant from the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and by State funds from Proposition 1B Transportation Bond.

  • University Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation - University Avenue from San Pablo Avenue to Sacramento Street was reconstructed. New video traffic detection was installed at the Sacramento Street intersection and new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were also installed.   • University Avenue Reconstruction - University Avenue from 4th Street to San Pablo Avenue was reconstructed and the overpass leading to/from Interstate 80 was repaved. A new video traffic detection system was installed at the 6th Street intersection. Also included were new curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings.

  • Street Rehabilitation FY 2008 Phase 2 - Various streets throughout Berkeley (including Channing Way, Harper Street, Haste Street, Overlook Road, Sacramento Street, Shattuck Avenue, Telegraph Avenue, Virginia Street, and Webster Street) were overlayed.  Storm drain improvements were made at Shattuck/Oregon and Shattuck/Russell. New curb ramps and thermoplastic striping/markings were also installed.
