PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY HONORING THREE MEMBERS OF BPD
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, September 28, 2010) - Three members of the City of Berkeley Police (BPD) Department will take their oaths to move to the next respective police rank in BPD’s first public promotional ceremony. On Thursday September 30, 2010, all members of the community, BPD colleagues, family and friends, City of Berkeley employees, members of local government and other law enforcement agencies are welcome to join BPD on this memorable occasion.
The following BPD employees will be sworn in by BPD Chief Michael K. Meehan.
Sergeant Emily Murphy
Appointed as an Officer in 2001. She will receive badge S-28.
Lieutenant Kevin Schofield Appointed as an Officer in 1997 and Sergeant in 2004. He will be badge L-11.
Captain Erik Upson Appointed as an Officer in 1998, Sergeant in 2002 and Lieutenant in 2007. He will be badge C-3.
BPD Chief Michael K. Meehan said, “These are unforgettable events (promotions) in the lives of these members of BPD. Sharing the news and opening the ceremonies now and in the future offers the community an opportunity to be part of BPD’s continuing rich history. Please join us.”
