Berkeley  Bay Festival 2011- Marine mammal center

The City of Berkeley,Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department and the Marina Experience Program present the Bay Festival, at the Berkeley Marina on

Sat., April 11, 2015 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
This wonderful FREE event  first happened 78 years ago when  the Marina first opened in 1937. The Bay Festival now showcases activities and environmental education that are available here at the Marina and all around the region. Come celebrate the Earth and our Bay by listening to music, eating wonderful food, and enjoying a day by the Bay.

Held outdoors in  Shorebird Park, 160 University Ave. Berkeley CA. This event is for all ages, providing information about "green" building as well as summer program offerings and locations for educational trips.  Updates will be made on this website as we compile the data for 2015.
 In 2015, Our food vendors will be:  Fist Full of Flour Pizza Co., India Gourmet and Endless Summer Sweets. 
The entertainment will be spirited  with Gary Lapow -children's music in the morning , Dana Smith an entertaining juggler, Lee Waterman and Jazz Caliente and The Bay Area Back Pages (Oldie Goldies), jamming for you. 
The Adventure Playground will be open for children to build with hammers, nails, saws and paint ( with parental supervision), Dragon Boats and Cal Sailing Club  will provide a splashing experience in the Bay if you join them for a ride. 
  

11am-4pm        Main event  on the  lawn area of Shorebird Park in front of the  Shorebird Park Nature Center. Here you'll find environmental education groups and recreational activities.   All exhibitors have hands-on activities. Off the South Sailing Basin dock there will be free sailboat rides in small boats. 
To ride in the larger Keel boats sign up in the main field for your turn this is offered by the Cal Sailing Club.

11 am-3:30 pm
For paddling lessons in a dragon boat, sign-up with the Berkeley Dragon Boat group in the main festival area.  Life jackets provided.

 Thoughout the day, our unique Adventure Playground will be open to the pubic. In Adventure Playground, kids of all ages are encouraged to build, paint, climb, and ride the zip line. Parents must supervise their children in the park and sign the waiver as they enter.

To help the environment, we encourage alternate transportation and carpooling, if you are riding your bike, you can park it next to Adventure Playground during the event. Ask at the info table.
