CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR OUTSTANDING WOMEN EVENT
Berkeley, California (Thursday, January 20, 2011) - As part of celebrating National Women's History Month, the City of Berkeley's Commission on the Status or Women will be honoring Outstanding Women of Berkeley at a reception on March 14, 2011 and is open to the public. The Commission is accepting nominations from the public for Outstanding Berkeley Women awards, due Friday, February 4 by 5:00 p.m.
The City of Berkeley Commission on the Status of Women invites you to nominate one or more women to be honored at our Outstanding Women of Berkeley event to be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Central Library Community Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, located at 2090 Kittredge Street, Berkeley.
The Commission seeks to honor and recognize the contributions of a wide spectrum of women, especially those who may be under-recognized for their work or are unconventionally successful. Nominations are open to women who (1) currently live, work or learn in Berkeley, (2) are 14 years of age or older, and (3) has demonstrated a strong track record of volunteerism, or (if in a paid position) has gone above and beyond her regular duties.
Submissions are due by Friday, February 4, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Feel free to email them to Nicole Kelly at firstname.lastname@example.org or mail them to Commission on the Status of Women, c/o Nicole Kelly, Secretary to the Commission, 2180 Milvia Street, 2nd Floor, Berkeley, CA 94704.
All applications must be typed and include name, address and phone number of both the nominator and the nominee as well as a complete nominator's statement which addresses the contributions the nominee has made to the Berkeley community and answers the questions on the nomination form.
